The mother-daughter material is as good as anything she's written. Extraordinary control.
I respect it enormously and found it a hard hour. If you want any warmth at all, this isn't the one.
The economy of it is astonishing. Not a spare word, and the accumulation of small cruelties is unbearable by the end.
Nobody writes a conversation where nothing is said and everything is revealed quite like this. Cold, funny, and desperately sad underneath.
