The generosity toward her husband is what elevates this above the genre. No score-settling.
There were sections I found almost too exposing. That's a testament to the writing but be aware of what you're picking up.
I read passages out loud to my husband and we both went quiet. It's a book about drift, and how ordinary it is.
A memoir about becoming unrecognisable to the person you married. Burden never makes either of them a villain, which is much harder and much better.
