Deeply charming. The kind of book that leaves you in a better mood than it found you.
The worldbuilding is a backdrop rather than a system, which is fine but worth knowing. The relationship is lovely.
No villains, no melodrama, just two men working out how to be honest. Sebastian is the best in the business at this and the setting change doesn't touch it.
All the warmth and gentleness of her historicals transplanted onto a ship. Two people stuck together in a small space, being kind to each other very slowly. Perfect comfort read.
