Feels like a writer who has found the thing he wanted to say again. Glad I picked it up.
A book that's kind to its characters without being soft on them. I didn't expect to be as affected as I was.
Martel is always working on two levels and you need patience for the second one. When it clicks it's very moving.
Faith, storytelling, and what we owe the people who raised us. It has the fable quality of his best work without repeating himself. The final section is beautiful.
