The third in the New York Times bestselling Maple Hills series follows fan-favorite Henry and a bookish fellow student who come up with a plan to help them both overcome their respective challenges in a difficult year. When his procrastination lands him in a difficult class with his least favorite professor, Henry Turner knows he’s going to have to work extra hard to survive his junior year of college. And now with his new title of captain for the hockey team—which he didn’t even want—Henry absolutely cannot fail. Enter Halle Jacobs, a fellow junior who finds herself befriended by Henry when he accidentally crashes her book club. Halle may not have the romantic pursuits of her favorite fictional leads, but she’s an academic superstar, and as soon as she hears about Henry’s problems with his class reading material, she offers to help.

Series romance done right — you get the cameos you want without the book depending on them. Good standalone if you're starting here.
Appreciated that Henry's struggles with the class and his own head are taken seriously rather than being a quirk. The hockey scenes are fun even if you don't follow the sport.
427 pages of mostly low-stakes college life. I liked both leads a lot but I think this could have been eighty pages shorter without losing anything.
Academic superstar with zero romantic experience meets golden retriever hockey player. The accidental book club crash is such a good meet-cute. Read it twice.
Been waiting for this one since Icebreaker and it did not disappoint. A hockey captain who doesn't want to be captain, and a book club heroine who fixes his reading list — the premise is so simple and it works.
